Motor mount width
Anyone know how far apart the motor mounts are on a 350 and a 454?

Re: Motor mount width
Thanks. The reason I asked is because I set my motor stringers for a 350, and now I might use a 454. Just wanted to make sure it would work. Thanks again.

Re: Motor mount width
Doesn't matter if it a 350, 454, Cummins 6BT, or a Detroit diesel. Install the standard width inboard stringers and you can choose whatever engine you wish.
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

Re: Motor mount width
If you space the stringers so that you have about 26" between them ( Inside of stringer to inside of stringer), you should be fine for either the 350 or 454. You will then bolt/epoxy motor bed timbers, three or four inches wide, to the stringers for the motor mounts to actually sit on. You can find many pictures of this setup on the forum....Hope this helps....Neel

Thanks guys. I spaced them at 26" but wasn't sure if a big block would fit between.
