That is just beautiful. I wish I had the patience to build a cold molded inboard. I sometimes get frustrated just putting the cover back on mine

this is one of those moments when you see if all the effort up to now has been worth it.

one varnish coat on, nine to go.

It is one of the rewards when you first finish the first coat and can step back. WOW :!: I DID THAT :!: :?:

Way to go!

thanks, yup, the finish really pops. I bookmatched and sequenced the planking. you can sorta see the plank pattern progress in the last shot. it's pretty dramatic from head on. I'll post that shot somewhere down the road, if I can get a wide angle on it. the bow is right up against my lumber rack, and my camera isn't able to get a wide view.

You should be very proud. That really is an outstanding piece of craftsmanship.

thanks for the compliments. There's still lots to do, but the rest seem like final touches, considering what has been done previously.

I've got a couple of trailering question that I'd like to throw out. Got a good really deal on a used ShoreLandr trailer. The outside frame dimensions fit my boat very well. It had previously been used as 19' or 20' ski boat trailer (probably TWICE the weight of my Gentry). I'm making and carpeting new bunks. Is the ideal position for them directly under (and maybe very SLIGHTLY outboard) the stringers? Is that all the bottom support I will need, or should I think about another set of bunks that support the chine as well? I've seen both on various wooden boat trailers. These bunks would be quite a bit shorter, as the chine starts to curve up fairly quickly from the stern.

Most ski boat trailers seem to have just the single set of bunks, maybe ski boats are such strong chunks of fiberglass.

A second question then. Can a trailer be too heavily sprung? This trailer can handle a boat 1400 pounds heavier than mine. How will I know whether the ride is too harsh? Is that hard on the boat, structurally? I could easily take out the smallest leaf on a five leaf spring to soften the ride.

When I built mine, I emailed Glen about support for the Sea Knight on the trailer...granted mine is an outboard, but he replied that "the greatest stresses on a boat while on the trailer are closest to the chine."

My EZ Loader trailer had one bunk each side...he recommended adding a second bunk so that both the keel and chine areas were well supported.

(Looks like you are a little snowier up there in Oakdale today than I am down here in Apple Valley!!  [he's 22 miles away for those not from here  ])
