That's a fun stage to be at. Looking great
. I will be very interested to see how you decide to lay out the top layer. I didn't like the sweep up at the front so opted to go with planks following the waterline, but it means more waste and end to end joins as the angle changes.

By the time I have built a boat, I'll be ready to build a boat....

Started the Mahogany Layer. I thought I'd start on the keel where I can cover my mistakes with paint.
Got the resin pigmented,(It looks like chocolate frosting) and the jig that Bob Perkins suggested all ready to go.

Finished the transom and one side of the bottom.

Re: Seattle Barrelback progress
A major milestone today, (At least if feels like it.)
I finished the bottom and transom mahogany layups.
Still have to trim, sand everything, but I'm excited.
Turned out well thanks to all the input. (Thanks Bob!)

Re: Seattle Barrelback progress
Thanks to Bob Perkins and also Jim Ritter from Sag Harbor for helping me understand the process of lining off the hull.
All went without a hitch.
I used a 18 Gauge nailer and a spiling batten to line off the hull after doing some basic math.
How do you think it looks?

Bob:
I tried you trimming jig and method today, I must say it makes slick work of it.
I hand fit a number of boards and the trimmer jig works FAR better and much faster,
not to mention elmination of the operator error malfunctions when hand planning a piece to shape.
Thanks again for a bit of good advice and the photos. This is going to work great!
Did the first layup on the sides and am progressing. More photos soon.
