Hello,
Let me start by telling you I'm brand new here.
I am also the proud new owner of a Glen L 15 that was built around 1966 - 1969. The boat is very solid and appears to be in good condition with the exception of some small leaks around the centerboard trunk. I'm thinking that I am going to have to approach the treatment of these leaks from the outside of the boat. As I said, I am new here but I'm guessing If I take the finish back to bare wood and use some fiberglass tape with epoxy I might be on the right track, am I?
I'm wondering what the finish of the bottom side of the hull might be. It is fairly smooth, and mostly in good condtion. I guess I need to know if this is kind of like painting a house. Can I sand back the bad areas, and paint over the good? Do I have to use $150 a gallon bottom paint, or is there another option?
Thanks in advance.
Jeremy

Hey there.
I am building a glen-l 25, and this centerboard trunck problem is on my mind to! first off I would strip back the epoxy to expose the wood. then check for any rot.if you find some do your best to replace the wood! From the outside I would fill and re-glass the exposed wood with a heavy cloth. After looking at the various presures applied to the trunk I concluded that the conecting point ant the keel is that of a folcum and wikk crack if not really supported! on the inside I would ( and am doing ) applying choped mat and resin around the intersection of the centerboard trunk and the keel. I am going 6" up and down. then applying a filler coat for a smooth finish. I hope this helps you out.

Dave
