Good Morning
As I started installing my Flying Saucer Frames last night, I realized that I had made the legs of the form 21" instead of 24". So, the top of the building form members is 24" which puts the sheers at approx. 2 1/2" off the floor at frame #5 1/2 and
3 1/2" at frame #4. Is this enough clearance for planking and fiber glassing? I'm hoping I don't have to redo all the legs.
Thanks,

Thanks Billy
Your suggestion gave me an idea. If I change out the 2X6 set up members for 2X10s, the problem should be solved without rebuilding the form.
Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

Re: building form debacle
You could just add a 2x4 (or 6) on top of the existing 2x6 to raise the level. As long as the frame remains level in both directions you should be okay. You may have to tweak the transom end, but you typically have to do that anyway to set the correct angle.

that would workFlash wrote:Thanks Billy

Billy & Bob,
Thanks for your help.
I think I'll try the 2x4s. That should be the easiest install with minimal leveling.
Thanks again,
