Shortening a Monte Carlo

Post by wingridr » Sun Sep 21, 2014 8:50 pm

Hello all,

I am looking through plans, and really like most everything about the Monte Carlo...except the length. Seems to be a pretty big boat.

I have seen a fair number of posts about extending a hull, but haven't seen to many on making them a bit shorter. I see that it is said that it can be shortened 10% by re-spacing the frames from the aft end of the stem to the transom a proportional amount. Being the newbie that I am, I am not totally clear of how much this would really be, how long would a Monte be in its shortest length? Would it really be 29.6" shorter?

Does this affect anything as far as building it, or following the plans?

Thanks for any help!
