I buy the pre-filled cartridges from System Three already filled with Gel Magic or West 10/SIX cartridges. I do not buy empty cartridges or mix and put epoxy into empty cartridges. I am not aware of any MFGs that make or sell empty u-Tah cartridges that can be filled by the consumer.

Hi, Carl, how about using something like a quart size freezer bag? Cut off a small section of one of the corners, fill with epoxy, then use it like a pastry bag. I have not tried this myself, just brainstorming.
That sounds like a good idea! I'm running out off places to glue. But, I may try it just for future reference. Mix what you need. Put it in the bag. Use it. Throw away the evidence. Cheap Trick.

I haven't had a batch of epoxy heat up enough to melt anything. It gets rather warm if its in a concentrated mass but that only serves to speed up the reaction and decrease pot life. It is an exothermic reaction but a typical sized batch that you would be using for glue-up is not going to release enough energy to cause any real damage, especially since it will probably be used up within about 10 minutes. I say use a freezer bag so it doesn't tear but I wouldn't mix up an entire quart of thickened epoxy.
They turn a plastic bag into a piping bag, or in this case an epoxy bag. You could then use cheap pastry tips in any shape or size to more effectively guide the epoxy into its destination. It would probably be more user friendly and accurate than just cutting the corner off the bag.
I'll second hoodman's ziplock bag idea. I read about it somewhere on this site a few years ago when I was building our Kidyak. I used it to make the filets. Made things much easier to work with and clean up.
