John

I'd say average speed is between 25 & 35. It depends on where you are in the group. It can get choppy back in the pack.

I am generally the slow one at about 25. The rest run around 30+ or so, and when Hot Rod went, well, he skewed the average quite a bit!! :)

That being said, everyone is pretty good about circling around or slowing down and letting folks catch up so no one is left behind. We usually arrive at Chattanooga pretty much in a group.

It isn't a race and we can adjust the speed to accommodate slower boats.
That being said, there will be "show-off" opportunities!
It's a pretty ride and the scenery is beautiful.

This being Sept. 11, (and on the topic of the River Run), I thought I'd mention that the Naval Reserve Center, which was the second (and deadliest) site in our recent terrorist shootings here in Chattanooga, is just a few miles further upriver from downtown. You wouldn't be able to see anything from the water, other than a parking lot and a boat ramp.... but for anyone wishing to ride past & pay their respects, etc... it would only be a few minutes past where you normally stop for lunch.

There IS a small dock there (it is a public park with public-access boat ramp), if anyone wished to walk up the hill & place a wreath by the fence or something. However, I'll also mention that the shoreline is extremely rocky right along there.
Completed Builds:
Glen-L Utility, "Perseverance"
(2) MBW Hiwassee Wanderer canoes

Abandoned Builds: Glen-L Squirt, Glen-L Zip

Currently Building: Jim Michalak AF-4

I've got floating 11 again
The klop, klop of water under the bows of a small boat will cure most troubles in this world.
