Olds cool down

Re: Olds cool down
Sure hope you have success bringing her back up. My Crusader 5.7 MPI with the Liberty "A" transmission was about 950 lbs. Everything was cast iron as far as I could tell.

My Monte Carlo has about 1400 pounds of engine, transmission and running gear. I think I figured on the high side. When I'm finished with the flotation I will have 7 sheets 4x8x2 inches and one sheet 4x8x 3/4 inch. I think that's way more than I need.
Mr Hotrod (Paul Kane) had a formula somewhere on the forum that looked very accurate for calculating flotation.

I have always loved diving... I have salvage a lot of things off the floor of the ocean... and two weeks ago got to suit up and find a rod that fell out of the boat in Lake Murray....

Re: Olds cool down
Losing this boat in this manner is such a tragedy that it's a shame that we can't just get a group of Glen-L forum members to pool our efforts, come over to that side of the pond, find this boat and get it back on the surface. I know that every one of us is feeling your pain right now. I know that I myself was really heart sick when Butch Barto's boat caught fire and burned. I can't tell you how good it felt to see that boat back in its former glory at this past Gathering.

Re: Olds cool down
Thanks Dave and everyone else for your help and support
As we all know each of these boats tells a story about quite a big section of our lives from the first time we dream up the idea of what boat we want to build to the days we spend cruising around in them, my story is just going on a bit longer than others
I'm lucky in a way that this is my story as compared to other peoples stories that are going on around the world at the moment mine is insignificant but it's the story that has been chosen for me and I can't wait to read the ending
If only boat building was a religion there would be no time for drugs, violence, alcoholism or war there is no racism between boat owners we all strive to help each other out no matter who you are or where your from as we are all in the same boat while everyone else is just in the same world.

Re: Olds cool down
Well it turned out not to be my boat so the hunt goes on. As Liam Neeson would say "I will look for you I will find you and I will rebuild you"
Great effort by the guys/girls for putting up with the cold and having a look.

Re: Olds cool down
Thanks, I'm asking santa if I can get a new sonar/ chartplotter in the sales so any hints or tips would be great as I know next to nothing about them, so far I'm looking at the Garmin striker chirp it seems cheep but it looks like it will do the same job as the others, also the Garmin echomap 75sv and if I'm very good maybe the garmin 7600xsv with the GT50 transducer.
Happy Christmas from Ireland
