Very nice job Neel. They blend in very well.

Yesterday was the first time this summer I was able to try out the new spray rails on "Scooter"..... I must say they are unbelievable. We traveled about 70 miles on the Chesapeake Bay, Sassafras River, and Elk River and stayed completely dry in the aft cockpit. It was just two of us, so nobody up front. We were in light chop and crossed several wakes (some big ones) and the deck stayed dry. I wish I had put them on when building the hull as it would have been slightly easier. I highly recommend splash rails for the Gentry. The boat's performance seemed exactly the same as before spray rails, and possibly slightly better. I would normally be running 25 mph at 2500 RPM, but yesterday at that RPM I was doing 26.5. Go figure. When the boat is in the water, they are not noticeable except up by the bow, and I think they add to the looks of the hull. I am very happy with this modification. Bill and Butch have both said that spray rails are not and option, but should be mandatory on the Tahoe, and I am thinking the same way with the Gentry. I will be happy to demonstrate at G-11........ All take care...... Neel

Sold! I was not considering spray rails for my Malahini but you convinced me it's a great idea. Great you have a bump up in speed too. My guess is your spray rails provide a noticeable bit more lift by deflecting water flow coming off the bottom of the hull back downward. I have a 1971 14' Penn Yan that has a similar feature at the chines and for a small-ish boat, it's the driest one going on a choppy lake.

They look good in the photo Neel. Pretty cool being able to make that long of a trip and staying dry.

Pawel.... If you decide to build the Gentry, and after you study the plans, I will send you a thumb drive with all the pictures I have of the Gentry. Here is a link to a youtube video of the boat performing with the stern thrusters. You can get a 360 degree view of the boat on this video.

Hi Neel;
My name is Mike Lyon. I've decided to build a Gentry. I was wondering if you could send me the pictures you have of your Gentry? I can send you a thumb drive or maybe you can zip them and send the link to my Gmail account and I can download them.

I can only hope my boat turns out near as beautiful as your finished product.

My wife and I are coming to the gathering -- I intend to start my boat in November. I want to wait until after the gathering so I have more first-hand information from builders.

will you be at the Gathering with the Gentry?

Thanks

Mike

Mike... I will be at the Gathering for sure with "Scooter". You will be able to see a Gentry up close. There will also be another Gentry there this year from Alabama. His name is John and he is just finishing his build. I don't think he stretched his as I did so you will get to see both configurations. I will be happy to send the pictures I have, but first I need to spend some time putting them all in one folder. Maybe you could send me a private message here on the forum with your address, email, and phone number. In the meantime I will get working on those pictures for you. I look forward to meeting you in September..... Neel
