Syringes
I need to fill the kerf that I cut in the battens in my boat now that it is flipped. I am unsure of exactly how to do this but I was thinking of using a syringe to pump some epoxy in there. Does anyone know of a good source?
Re: Syringes
Would the epoxy mixing tips and cartridges work? There are the larger ones like caulk or some smaller ones out there.

Amazon, or local medical supply shop.

If you go to a medical supply store, they usually will not sell you syringes used for injections without a medical license. Ask for irrigation syringes. I have used them on my boat with good results.

All fantastic ideas that I hadn't thought of! Thanks. I do have a turkey injector that I never use. I think I was supposed to butter up the kerf with glue as I was installing the planking. oops.
Re: Syringes
I use these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5mL-Disposable- ... SwP6pZoL7T
I usually buy about 20-25 at a time, so I don't run out just when I need them, as shipping is slow at best. I also use them for molding acrylic pen blanks, as the resin doesn't stick to them easily. You can reuse them if you disassemble after use; once the stuff hardens you can break it out of the tube and scrape it off the plunger.
Note the size! These are small (about 3" long?) and don't hold a lot. If you want larger, they are available in 10ml and 20 ml sizes for about the same price.

The caulk tube looks pretty good. How do you go about cleaning it?
Re: Syringes
I bought these. I'll let you know how they work.

Re: Syringes
You shove a rod into the tip to push the plunger back out when the epoxy is still wet. Any epoxy reside will come out after it is dried by squeezing the sides to break the epoxy loose. Since the eposy does not stick to plastic it just comes right out in sheets. Same goes for how i clean up my epoxy mixing sticks and cups.hoodman wrote:The caulk tube looks pretty good. I reuse syringes a few times as well. You can even let the epoxy totally dry and jsut pull the plunger back. A dried soput of epoxy comes right out that can be popped off the plunger.

Matt...I might be late to the party.. but what I did was ..put the mixed epoxy in the corner of a sandwich baggie...and cut appropriate hole...if you have to shoot it in somewhere...stick the small corner in the kerf with the point of nail...and squeeze. ..
