To those who have completed their Tahoes.......

What kinds of speeds do you get? Is the wake big and does it work for skiing?

I was told that top speed for a Tahoe is about 35 and for the Riviera is above 55 because of the hull shapes.

Thanks

Carl

Well, I haven't built either of these but I was just going to venture an opinion. But I'd say that 35mph for the Tahoe would be really pokey. I have no doubt that it will go considerably faster and with ease. .....given the correct engine of course.

Dave..........

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about the input as well. But the Riviera seems to have a much flatter hull at the stern and without seeing them side by side, or getting feedback from builder/owners it is hard to tell. It looks like the Tahoe would be more stable in rougher water due to more of a V hull for the entire boat.

Have a great Labor day.......

Carl

Carl,

KH only recommends 50 mph, as a max. The two hulls are not a lot different below the chine.

There are distinct differences between the Hankinson mahogany runabouts and the Glen-L runabouts.
Ken went back farther for his inspiration. Most of the boats have an older look and are not designed to go beyond the 35 mph. This is primarily a function of the forward bottom design (more vertical bow). The Tahoe being an exception to this.

The Glen-L mahogany runabouts are designed with the "look", but with a bottom conducive to more speed.
