We are getting ready to assemble our boats. However we have a growing concern about getting the boat to plane properly. So is there a drive shaft angle concern with the jetski drive? We are building Flying Saucer/ Zip, but do we just focus on making the drive shaft parallel to the hull/ water line? Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks
Happy Building

Are you Grafting part of the Jet Ski hull into the boat.

On mine I did not use the motor mounts from the Jet Ski, I used the pump mount and water intake.

I made a pattern before I cut up the Ski. I cut a pc of plywood to fit over the motor mount bolt holes in the bottom of the Ski big enough to but up to the drive shaft mount .And then made a block extending up from the plywood to the angel of the drive shaft mount and drilled holes in the wood pattern that would all line up with both the motor mounts and the drive shaft mount.

This way when you bolt the pattern to the hull pc. you cut out of the ski you have an idea of clearence needed to have a space between the bottom of the motor mounting plate and the bottom of you're boat. And at the same time gives you the angle you need.

May sound complicated.

What did some of you other guys do ?

I believe that we are going to be grafting part of the jet ski into the boat, due to the relative flat hull of the Flying Saucer we are looking for some "grip" on the water, which we think will be gained from the ridges/steps on the hull of the ski. So by grafting part of the ski into the hull of the boat, then should this give us the proper angle for the drive shaft? It seems intuitive that it would
Thanks

Yes, it seems logical to me as well that if you are grafting your setup is complete...you are simply attaching the factory set up to your existing hull. Should work well. (Since you are grafting you really couldnt change any of the angles even if you wanted to without great difficulty)
