I too am thinking about building the squirt with a jet. My question is about reversing. Do these small 550cc setups have a reverse capability?

Thanks

You should be able to make any of the jets reverse. It is just a matter of adding a "reverse cone" to the end of the nozzle. I have some pictures if you would like..but I will have to remember how to post them again !!

Steve

Actually it is more of a "reverse bucket"...I will have to find out what the proper technical term is for it.

Bob,

The old 550's do not come with a reverse capability. On my jet squirt, I designed the jet support bracket to take the standard reverse scoop from a current year kawa 1200 - the part is about $150, but I think it will be easier than building a scoop from scratch.

peace,

TRM

Thanks to both of you. Steve, I would really like to see the pics of the reverse bucket. So I take it that the newer setups have a reverse bucket but the older ones don't but can be modified.

"Jet Boat Trivia for $200, Alex"

That is exactly the correct term... and a pretty accurate description.
I have old castoldi and hydrorocket factory service manuals that call it a "gate". The term, "reverse bucket" seems to have originated with the US Navy, and the jacuzzi pumps used on the PBR's. When the reverse is vectored through a chute it's a gate, when the reverse looks like a giant salad bowl, it's a bucket. (like anyone really needs to ever clutter their brain with this stupidity.)
