I was thinking about Bill Edmundson's idea of collecting cell phone numbers of those planning to attend - thanks for handling that! In addition, he and I have said that we'll be bringing our VHF radios. If you have one, I'd suggest bringing it. While I do have one, I've used it more as a weather radio than for two-way communications. Does anyone want to suggest an official channel to monitor for the Gathering? I don't want to make the mistake of suggesting something officially reserved for other purposes (e.g. 9, 16?).

Along those lines, I imagine even more of us have those cheap Midland or Motorola-type modern walkie-talkies. I'd suggest that any of us who have those throw them in the car as well. Again, suggestions for a channel? How about Channel Number 5 (easy to remember....)

It just seems easier for folks to broadcast a call via radio vs cell phone if they have trouble finding the group, etc., especially given the cell phone signal outlook.

I will be bringing a VHF also, i guess ch5 is OK. I dont ever remember any traffic on it. I beleive its reserved for ship to ship traffic and I dont think there will be any of that in Guntersville. Most people around here use 68 for recreation chatter. We should be able to use low power to minimize any interference.

Let's go for 5 first.

The guys on the Gulf Coast tend to go to 72.

As long as we don't clutter 9 and 16, it should not matter.

I have a Last Minute contact list together. On second thought I don't want to just post individuals phone numbers.

Please, PM me and I'll send it to you. I'll send it to the guys on the list, also. I'll be leaving for Guntersville on Thursday. So, one of the others will also have the info.

Thanks for all the support.

Bill

It is beginning to look like I may be able to attend the gathering Saturday. Up until now I haven't been keeping up with it because I thought it was not going to happen for me. But, my wife told me last night that my daughter's gymnastics meet had been changed freeing up my weekend.

Anyway, I know I'm probably too late to volunteer for anything, but maybe I could help out with a few donations.

Let me know.

David

Steve,

Probably not. It doesn't sit on the trailer like it should and I really haven't done much at all since I flipped it.

Bill Edmundson - I think Steve was talking to me.

Steve - now, when you say "have my baby," are you at all referring to your daughter Bambi? We should talk....
