I have begun the Waterlodge project and I have a couple questions.

Are the cross spalls connected to the building form(and if so how) or are they free floating?

Also, I plan to side the housing with vertical cedar siding over 1/2" ply, any problems with this?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

The Cross Spalls are attached to the set up members--they are temporary, so only fasten, not glue. We would recommend using 2x2 blocking to fasten them.

As for the cedar siding--using this in addition to the 1/2" plywood would make it quite heavy. We would suggest using thinner plywood or just the siding.

Hello all,
It's been a while since my last posting, quite a while actually.
I have also purchased the Waterlodge plans and will be starting soon; after reviewing the plans I came across a question for the group concerning the motorwell/bracket.
Is there any reason on this boat why I couldn't TIG weld the entire assembly out of aluminum tubing, powder coat it and install as stated in the plans (with a resilient marine bedding) and hot dipped galv. bolts? Dimensions would remain the same as would the plywood transom clamp.
Just a thought as I have access to quite a bit of aluminum...

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Don Gilliland
