Hello,
Thanks for the nice comments!
She goes roughly 30mph with just me and about 26mph average with me and my girlfriend.
The 30 seconds away part was because I launched the boat before it was registered. First time in the water, so excited, then bam! some coper ruined it for me. It was a rainy garbage day too. I was the only guy out there. $305 tho. I guess I learned my lesson?

Dont force it........Get a BIGGER hammer!
I have really no idea how to make them or put them on. Quincy welding used to make them variously around town. But that was way back when. Personally I am getting an older Yamaha 25hp and converting it to a remote steering outboard, since it already has electric start. I am putting high performance heads on it to gain 5-7hp and adding a nose cone to the lower plus going to try to make some pipes for it. I'll let you know how it goes probably in the winter time.
And another engine I am restoring is a Merc 20hp tiller style though from my family. Restoring it back to original though so I won't be putting any sort of pipes on it.
Your Mercury looks fine the way it is. Looks great actually.
