Anyone that wants to make future changes in time or location for the 2010 event, chime in here and we'll sort through over the next period of time.

Dave, I read your post about not moving the date. I still would prefer earlier than the 3rd week, but it is not a big deal with me.

I think to continue with Guntersville, rather than moving it around to different places would be the right thing to do. At least there is plenty of water, unlike some of the GA and AL lakes this last 2 years.

Oh, I'm sorry! You were SERIOUS about that? 8)

Seriously though, I would LOVE to see the folks over there in the UK have a get together for Glen-L boats. All you have to do is start talking it up and it'll take on a life of its own.

How about Claytor Lake or Smith Mountain Lake in VA and a little earlier in the year like when school is still out in August?

Don't forget

Anyone from this side of the pond, keep Beale park Boat Show in your diaries for the unofficial Euro Gathering.

Could I suggest one on each coast, maybe midway between the north & south U.S. borders?

I have to say that when Bill Edmunson and I first went to G'ville to scout it out, I had no idea how the event would take on such a life of its own. I was amazed that so many folks jumped right in and threw their efforts into the mix. If you folks want events in your area, it sure won't take a lot with this crowd. I know for one that if I can myself support other events, I'll be right in there. I'd love to run up to Canada or a central Michigan event in Sept or something like that.

Hey, myself and Carla vote for Canada. It would have to be a month or two earlier though. Sept. would be good.

By the way Dave, I missed this at the time, but just for reference, we're not part of the UK any more...
It took a while, but we now have corrupt politicians all of our own. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_War_of_Independence

Wherever it is at I will try to be there BUT............ Guntersville is a beautiful place - one of my all time favorite boating spots - but I am sure there other great locations too. Personally I would like to see The Gathering move around to experience new waters and scenery. Also, moving it farther north from time to time would certainly give some of the faithfuls ( Bob, Bruce, Paul, etc ) a break from the epic drives. Plus, we have been very fortunate with mild weather during the day on the Saturday Boat Lineup but you have to admit the evenings and mornings have been either cool or down right cold (Sunday morning at 8AM the wind chill was 39 degrees). I personally think that many would enjoy the nights and mornings together far more if the temps were more comfortable. An earlier date would give much better odds for warm weather.

Just my 2 cents.

An earlier date would also give those families with young 'uns a chance to bring the whole family too. As it is now, a lot of folks can't take their kids out of school just to attend this event. If we were to bump up the dates a little, we might just find our attendance in both people and boats jumping up.

Hey this is an option that could come with a brew master got you guys even though he hasn't been around for a bit.  Maybe drop him a line and get him to check in. Thats a great area but have not actually visited that lake. They have cabins which are cheaper and group shelters. There are boat ramps and they are included with the cabins. Docks are showing avaliable with the cabins. Up in that area, the temps are really ideal during the daytime especially if its held earlier and nice in the evening. We use to take out trips to the mountains in early aug just because of the weather. They are showing 20 cabins on site.
