Howdy. I am a 15 year old, currently living in Cartersville, Georgia, which is about 40 miles North of Atlanta. While I was raised around woodworking, I have recently starting messing with metal, and really like it - especially aluminum. My last project was gutting and restoring a 15.5 foot jon boat, for bass fishing.
Here is a link to that, for those of y'all that may want to read it.
http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,482,00.html

I mainly fish for bass, but have become more interested in crappie and stripers recently. I also love bowhunting, but due to numerous circumstances recently, that has been put on the backburner for a few years.

My next project will likely be building a 20 foot welded aluminum hull from scratch. Been looking fairly heavily at the Snake Shooter plans. I would like it to be a center console with tee top, and probably around 150 horse, for striper fishing. I joined here so I can get a few opinions on some mods on that, specifically a motor pod. I will start another thread on that down in the metal boat section.

Welcome bassboy,
Glad to have young people to pass the torch so to speak.

Not too many people to shed light on metal builds, however Kevin Morin is our metal expert & maybe he can answer any questions.

Warren

I agree with Warren. There just don't seem to be very many people building in metal. Personally, I think it's because not too many want to be among the very first to do so. So when only a few people worldwide building using metal, the interest isn't generated. People want to build what they see others building because the others before them can answer questions and help guide the projects, so to speak.

I took a look at your project link. Dude, you've got some serious fabricating talent there. As I only live up the road in Nashville, you might just have to help me with some future aluminum welding.

I've always said that people can smell a welding machine. That's because if you've got a good welder, folks come from all around to have you weld something for them.

Welcome to the forum. I am not far from you on Weiss lake. No metal fab experience except on few small projects. Nothing like a boat.

I didn't see too many metal boat builds on here, but I figured since the boat is from here, this is probably the best place to determine whether or not the rig is capable of certain things or not. I have spoken with Kevin Morin on a couple of other sites, and am also members of a couple more aluminum oriented boat building sites. I just figured for things regarding plans sold by Glen L, this would be the place to go.

Any discussion is good for the site too esp since not many people build these...it may open up some people that may stay away from metal cause they are unfamiliar with the process

Wow--15 years old. I'm impressed! Welcome to the Forum bassboy1.

Sounds like you have much to offer our Forum on metal boats--glad to have you on board.
