I love some if not most of the inboard and outboard plans under 19' on this site. Especially the Tuffy, TNT, Squirt, Flats Flyer, Cracker Box, Tiny Might and the Dyno Jet.

I was curious on much fiberglass you have to lay down before it becomes near to maintenance free. I have the Tuffy and it is a bit of a pain in the rear to yank it out every day although it does keep it clean from grime and non-sense in the water. I would love to learn to make a mold of the Flats Flyer in the 18.5ft and make it out of fiberglass and kevlar/carbon weaves.

The Flats Flyer and the Tiny Might are in the back of my head to be built one day in the near future but as far as fishing goes the boat is going to be in the water 90% of the time thus defeating the purpose of a wooden boat basically.

I've looked at converting many aluminum Jon and lake runner boats into something like the Flats Flyer but it just wouldn't be the same and even making the Flyer out of aluminum but it would cost a fortune.

Any ideas on how much glass I have to lay?

Scott,

Boat AND "Maintenance Free" are Contradictory terms!

I'm actually going to do another coat of white or two on the bottom and one on the top/sides. And then slap the Meguiar's on it like nuts!
