I grew up parents who owned a ski boat which in turn led to many fond family memories. I have children who are to the age where I would like to introduce them boating/skiing. In the sprit of creating family memories and saving the pocket book some pain, I am strongly considering an attempt at building a boat.

As I have researched wooden boats I have been pleasantly surprised to see the quality and character of the builds posted here. I look forward to learning from you and hope that I am able to contribute the community.

You can learn a lot here. There are plenty of "fancy" boats, and plenty of "fun" boats. You don't need to be fancy to be fun. You should be able to get the family out on the water in a reasonable time, and at a reasonable cost.

Welcome and I agree. Building a boat and having kids also enjoy them will continue to have memories etched in the brain. I think many will also relate this for sure. Keep up updated on your progress.
