Very nice. Great progress. It took me several weeks of weekend building to get to that point. And good call on building your jig that high in the first place. I ended up putting coolers under the end of mine so I wouldn't have to stoop so much. :)

What kind of lumber are you using?

One week!!! Really? You hand nothing cut a week ago? That's impressive indeed.

I'm using exterior grade plywood. And trust me, it took me at least 6 hours to cut out all those pieces. Man my wrist's and arms were so sore the next day. But it was worth it. Hopefully this weekend it will be planked and ready for fiberglassing next week. Because me and my wife are expecting are first baby in a few weeks. So I need to get as much done as possible, because when he gets here, there won't be much building for a little while. But I will keep you all posted on the build. Man this build is going much better than my first build. The peewee. I learned alot from that build. And this forum is awesome for any questions also. Thanks for all the great tips!

Just the frames. I used pine for the sheers and chines.

Found pics of the peewee here. Cute looking little boat.

Be sure to keep us up to date with pictures. I'm curious how the plywood frames work out for you. The question of whether or not they're a good idea comes up pretty often, it'll be good to have a data point. Did you use plywood frames in the peewee as well?

Edit: D'oh. You beat me to the pics. :)

I did use plywood on the peewee frames. I am using the same wood on the squirt. What are you using for your planking. I was going to use 1/4 inch ply. But I am afraid that I might have a flat spot in my hull where the butt joint is.

Me too. I know of at least 1 pro builder up here that is using ply for the frames though I would assume his boats are specifically designed for that. It will be nice to see how it works for the hobbyist.

I did'nt have any problems with the plywood frames. I encapsulated the whole inside of the peewee with epoxy before I painted it. Not quite sure why there is a question on using plywood for the frames. Any info would be helpfull. :) I'm on a limited budget. So I thought I would give it a try. Seems to work so far. :)
