Hum lets see now if I can approach this one with some measure of caution. I am the first in line to want to do such a thing. The reality right now is that with even more intensity each year we as in collectively the working watermen and folks that have plowed the waters for generations are dealing with some radical enviromentalists that are well funded working hand in hand with the National Marine Fisheries and now with the NCMFS to stifle the guys with closures at even the threat of rain, quotas on mant fishes which has also made it look like the catches are down all across the board, including the most recent ruling this week to close the Snapper fisheries as a result of lower catches overall. The charter boats will really be affected too since for several years now they have been dealing with smaller catches because of the quotas and with the economy hitting their clients in their own wallets.
Just this past month or more along the gulf coast the same attempted to shut down by default the oystering by attempting to impose rules that required all oysters to be pasterized before selling them because of published reports of about 15 people dieing over the span of a year from eating them. Followup reports showed that the folks were already with some preexisting health issues that was attacked by the micro organisms thats dormant in the shellfish. Well heck maybe we should ban cars entirely. Oh wait thats what is being attempted too.
But if there is a will, there will be a way if the elements and time frame for the next event allows for the taking of oysters that time of year and I make it too.
But for the guys that do not know that there are differences in taste, it does require several really cold fronts to get the taste just right, and to get them "right" so that they will work properly too.
