Hi

I am building a Malibu travel trailer and the plans call for an all aluminum roof

I have read on this site that the camper plans call for rubber roof, i.e. EPDM

I would like to put rubber roof on my trailer. What do I need to do

Do I need to buy the camper plans or is it just a matter of buying the right joints to connect
the edges of the roof to the sides of the trailer. I do plan on using aluminum for the sides

could anyone tell me what I need to buy so that I can use rubber on the roof and aluminum on the side

Some have used the rubber roofing from All-Rite:

Gayle,

thanks for your reply. I think i found what i am looking for. dicor.com has an installation guide for the rubber roof

i am going to buy the material from themetalcompany.com They also sell the aluminum for 2.75/sf.
i am going to go with them becuase the sales person was really friendly and helpful, also the roof installation guide on dicor.com is what I need. Without the plans I would not be able to build the trailer right. So far its coming along excellent. a little slower than I anticipated, i think i started end of november. Its a lot of work but its worth it. A good first project, before i build a boat. I am learning a lot from building it. Thank goodness I have the plans.

It;s great that you are building this, we don't see too many RV's on the forum.

If you post some pictures of your progress, everyone will benefit.

We all love pics!! :D

Hi -
I just put a rubber roof from themetalcompany on the modified Importer that I'm building. Yes, the people there are great! It helps to have 2 people and wide brooms to remove wrinkles; also, make sure to use the water-based adhesive mentioned in the plans. There are lots of adhesives that are not water based out there.

Have fun.
Best, Bruce
