Very good.
The question for me though is choosing between white and black stripes.
I´m inclined towards black seams but if you ask me why I probably could not even answer.
I´m using rather dark mahogany for the deck so I´m a little afraid that the
seams will disappear into the whole darkness of the deck.
Tradition says white but does anyone have pictures showing black seams?
Or baybe it´s a bad idea?

You might want to add that "white epoxy" is microballons mixed into the epoxy. I used Glen Ls microballons as some are more yellow. I did not see microballons mentioned.

That's a great idea to put all that info in one area....I will refer to it when the time comes for me.

Maybe a PDF file on types of paints for bottoms,over epoxy,extended in-water,trailered,etc.....lots of repete questions on that subject,right Bill??

You keep these files up,it will make this so easy that the boats will build them selves ,all we will have to is buy the stuff!!!

ran black epoxy on mine and worked out great. many of the original GarWoods were dark colored. System Three sells pigments to tint their epoxy so used that and wood flour recipe to squeegee it over a deck that was protected by a few coats of cured epoxy.

Might be nice to include some info on pigments. We didn't do much, but on our trailer fender steps, we used several thickeners to get the best consistency and relied on the West System 501 White pigment to control the color.

Until you find a place for the link, why not just make it a sticky ?? This could be expanded so that most topics have a PDF FAQ. Think of the amount of time Bill would save in the Paint section !

I'm doing the next bottom job with barn paint. I think it will be ok if I never take it off the trailer.

Yes, loving life in Wyoming! Spent the day coyote hunting yesterday..(well..kinda sorta..you drive five miles, call the coyote..no coyote shows up in five minutes you drink a beer, wait an additional fives minutes...repeat) Saw four, only got one...but at 160 yards running at full tilt through sage brush higher than the mutt it is a challenge!

Left the wife all alone...thought she would be quilting...no such luck...decided she had to do something using one of those "sure shot staplers". She learned the hard way that those things are built "backwards"..the staple comes out what appears to be the wrong end..well one emergency visit and 650 bucks later she is doing just fine! Sipping wine and wondering if she now qualifies for the Darwin awards! I told her next time not to set the staples so deep, you have to be able to pull them out..it's kinda like boat building...she didn't think that was funny!...

Oh about those deck seams...ummm....I am not at that stage of my build yet...but when i get there I will reference this thread for enlightenment..white or black? So many questions! I think a discussion on the different flavored woods that would accomplish the same look would be interesting for the real craftsman...but I don't think it was ever done that way.
