Hi all, Well after nearly three years in the making I have turned my Bonanza up. (No not a launch) Well I managed to get these three photos on. I'll try some more in another post.

Kind regards

Wayne

And some more. Well it's being a learning curve. Thanks to all on this forum. The flip was a real let down. I had imagined about 15 people and lots of malt but in the end it was four freinds, no beer and about 20 minutes. It's been a long time though I am still 100% comited. We own/operate a construction company down under here and with a young family it is hard to find the time. But I will get there. I started the painting on my own with the roll & tip method but was not happy with the results so packed up and took it to a paint shop. I am real happy with the results. Makes all those hours of sanding seem almost worth it. Framing is Australian spotted gum with 4mm ply lamination on one side. I am a little worried about the weight because of the heavy timber but not to much more than oak. All seams have two layers of cloth and then the third full covering. Just working on the bumper rails at the moment.
Things not to do: 1.Fibreglass when it's cold, 2.Fibreglass when it's hot. 3.Lie to the missus and tell her I am going to run some erands in town when I'm actually sneaking out to work on the boat.
Things to do: 1.Use a laser level for every thing. 2.From setting up the form, Getting each frame exact, Getting water line, running strait lines down centre. 3.Tell the missus I love her and that I'll be back in just a minute... :D :D

Well kind regards to you all

Wayne

File comment: I've had this 302 fully rebuilt. Love those stainless manifolds. Also a brand new Liberty tranny with down angle.

Great looking work. I'm with you on the painting. I could never get the roll and tip the way I wanted it but I've seen others that have. The Bonanza is a great design. Look forward to your progress.

Hi all, Thank you for the kind comments,
The engine is a 302 which I had fully rebuilt with all the new gear etc. Tranny is a brand new liberty from velvet drive with 8 degree angle. I beleive these are the replacements for the 5000 series.
Although I have no preference for either ford or GM I would never go with ford again. Simply because the parts are so hard to find. Took me months to find a SBF/Velvet drive bell housing. Ended up getting it on Australia E-Bay. I have a PCM fresh water cooling kit which I still havn't finished setting up. The manifolds are cool. All polished stainless steel. I'm a little embaressed to tell you how much they cost.

Kind regards

Wayne

THAT is going to be one nice looking boat. 8) I really like the lines of the hull so far and cant wait to see it with the deck on it. Back in the day there was great variety in boats, as far as motors are concerned, but sadly today if you want to find parts that are relatively inexpensive and easy to find you really need to stick with chevy motors. Is that a 60's eary 302 or one from the 80's? Just wondering.

It is a 80's model. I hav'nt fired it yet. I'm not sure what sort of H/P i'm going to get from it. We put a mild RV cam in it to give a bit of low down pull. I guess it'l work.

well depending on which year it could range from about 175hp to 225hp? Did it have a roller valve train?

Well I'm not sure what year it was but Ford went with roller rockers and I think roller lifters too in the 5L. That would have been I believe the 225hp motor.
