Let's say I want to use epoxy / graphite for the bottom of the hull (trailered glen l 14) and I want to paint the rest.

I'm guessing that the paint won't stick to the epoxy/graphite?

I'm also guessing that I need the epoxy graphite to overlap the paint a little?

So I paint the hull, down into where the epoxy/graphite will go, and then tape it off when it's done, scuff the paint up to the tape and then apply the epoxy/graphite?

Or should I just paint the whole thing and be done with it?

Dave

If you can talk to West systems, unit 96,baldoyle industrial estate Dublin 13. phone 353 18392330.
They will tell and sell what you need.
You will need a two part primer to paint over the epoxy.

Do you have a "convenient spot" to hide the point where they meet?

On my boat the bottom paint and topside paint will "meet" at the chine.

I plan to leave each paint edge sharp (no overlap at all) and then cover it with a spray rail.

Alternately I could use a (stick on) stripe etc - anything to hide the transition (maybe meet at the waterline and use a "stick on")...
