Most of you probably have learned this, but in case you haven't I offer the following.

Jig saws have a place in a shop, but I have learned that when cutting larger pieces or those that you don't have to hold with your hand, that PULLING the saw works better. Pushing from the handle means you are looking down on your work and you don't have the steady control that you have when you position yourself IN FRONT of the saw, and PULL. One hand on trigger, and other around saw motor towards the back allows you to see, and have better control.

Not a big deal, but WORKS.

I will have to try that tip! I never even thought about it. I will say it sounds like it will work a lot better than my back and forth cutting.

Robert

THANKS!

You know, I haven't thought of that for a LONNNNNGGGG time. But I remember my wife's grandfather telling me that. And it works. My wife's grandfather used to live 2 doors up from MY grandfather and I used to see him when we went for a visit my own grandparents. Anyway, my wife's grandfather often would be cutting a peice of wood by hand and it might take him 20 minutes, but DARN it would be absolutely perfect.

I'll try that, I never heard of that one.
Here is another trick for the jigsaw.
If pushing it, hold a straightedge along the foot, it helps me to cut longer straighter cuts, I really like this going around long gentle curves.
