The Wee Hunk is complete, I am now looking to install conduits of some sort to place the steering controls, throttle wires, and electric lines. I have built the bench seat per plan, and was thinking of placing the battery in the bench, however I need to place the steering and throttle cables on the deck of the boat from the transom to the console, (also built per plan). I am trying to keep them from just lying on the deck. Any ideas??

thanks, Gregg in Billerica, MA

I had a thought, but I looked at the Customer photos (wee Hunk) and thought better of my thought. :P
That's a good choice for a fishing boat too by the way.

Most of my boating was in Salt Water and that caused problems which created a need for access to nearly everthing at some time or another.

Can you make a "square Conduit" that will sit down into a Square Channel in the Deck, leading from the Helm station to the relief in front of the motor?

Or...depending on how much room you have below the Deck, can you fit a piece of Three inch PVC down there in a channel and drop a removable deck plate down over that?

Because other than that, you'll be going around the Gunn'l from the Helm station back to the Motor.

On boats with coaming I usually use pvc conduit in your case you could do the same just run it under the deck. It keeps them from chafing. You could even go with 2" and split it on the table saw. Then just lay the cables in and the deck would do the rest. The channel you create makes it really easy to add or change out cables as necessary.

Another trick is to put a loop of string through the conduit. Then later you can use the loop to pull a wire anytime.

LOL hey, when were you in my boat? I work in the IT world and I use to pull a lot of wire.. Never was a truer statement made. You or the next guy will really appreciate it.
