Al

I didn't experience any off gassing issues. The only thing I noticed is that if the spoon stops slidding smoothly, get another spoon. And, don't try to fix it. Ypu'll only make it worse.

Can we back up a minute and answer a dumb question of mine? What is the purpose of the caulking? Is it to mask expansion and contraction of the wood as it ages/shrinks.expands through thermal cycling? Is it to provide a better surface if you need to stand on it (by allowing the water to pool and run off in the gaps between planks)? Is it cosmetic?

As a guitar builder, one of the draw backs of using alternating wood types is the difference in shrinkage rates between woods....in a thin guitar finish, I can expect cracking in the lacquer to follow the wood seams. Maybe with the thicker epoxy/finish coats (and maybe glass, if you glass your top decks) this isn't as much an issue, thoguh caulking would eliminate this problem. I would be concerned that the caulk becomes a maintenance item. Though I am a long way from even starting my build, I have always been curious about this. Thanks.
