Good news; :) The turn went really well . Had an old friend Dave Harris helping me. Dave's one of those guys I've worked with on various projects ( he helped me build the hull and cabin on my 34' sailboat ) and we work really well together. We anticipate each others moves all the time...a real pleasure.
A controlled turn using 4 chain hoists, 4 slings and some controlling ropes. No surprises.
The boat sits well on the cradle and is easy to move around (with the brakes off)
Really impressed with the size of the boat...it looks huge for a 21' 6" hull...plenty deep and wide. Can't wait to get going on the inside now.
Pics to follow as soon as it quits raining.

Now comes the tedious detail work that seems like it takes forever to complete.

Well, couldn't be helped  . Just had to set the engine and tranny in place and set up some temporary cabin sole beams to see where everything was going to end up. Looks great....lots of room. Now to get down to the dirty work, sanding and encapsulating. Good to boost your spirits once in a while.

Engine is a Kubota 1105 diesel 3 cyl 29 hp., similar to that used in the Beta Marine 30. Bellhousing and adapters are from Hayes in Michigan (great supplier ) After having the sailboat with all the thru hulls and water entrances, I decided to go with a dry stack exhaust and keel cooling, using a cooler outside the bottom of the hull. The engine as supplied comes with a fan, so I'm going to build a shroud for it and pull some cooling air from the side deck area and blow it past the engine and up the stack past the muffler to help cooling. Think it will work. I have a similar engine in a tractor and am very impressed with the way it works and stretches fuel. Only time will tell.

Sorry; Trans is a ZF 10 with 2.72 gear ratio.

Well, working away at encapsulating the interior....slow, tedious job. Since I'm using an industrial (as compared with a marinized) Kubota, I had to fabricate the mounts.
It went well and they turned out as hoped. Will send pics shortly. Working on engine beds now.
Merry Christmas too all, and have a great boating New Year. :)

I know a guy that has that engine on an old VW Bug based buggy. He claims 100 mpg. It is flatland and probably 55 mph max.

Got the engine beds/stringers/mounts pretty well finished.

File comment: This is the nearly completed setup. (still needs the angle brackets from the stringers to each frame) Note the rear engine mounts I had to fabricate as there weren't any on the bell housing for this industrial engine. Still have to drill for mount bolts.

File comment: This is one side of the stringers, laminated out of 3 layers of Baltic birch and epoxied. Note how they fit around 3 frames.

File comment: This is the setup I used to get my initial alignment. The wire runs thru the centreline of the shaft, and from there I calculated the trans offset and screwed the temporary ply pieces to indicate the inside corner of the rails
