I have the little ol 10" ryobi bandsaw. It's worked fine so far, but yeah a little limiting. The trouble is the socket where the upper wheel bolt threads in is stripped. I was wondering if I could simply epoxy the bolt into that socket in the plastic ( making sure of course it is well and truly level). this socket is also connected to the tensioning wheel...

or should I simply give in and move up to a 14" :D

It is hard to offer an opinion without seeing it.

What about drilling the hole one size larger, tapping new threads, and using a larger bolt?

I don't want to get between you and a new bandsaw. I love my 14".

I'll have to take some pics, but there isn't a lot of boring space in that plastic socket area.. but I just realized that the bolt is max size for the wheel anyways.

Could I say fill the socket with epoxy and then when hard bore a new hole for the threads to grab into?

I'll also keep an eye out on kijiji for a bandsaw. ( Just picked up a nice old Rockler wood lathe. Works like a dream!)

here's the parts/price list- maybe the safest fix is replace the part?

Yep twas and still is "I"! I am sad to say that I am so surprised at how quickly 2-3 years has slipped by! Many things in life, work changes.. and more changes.. etc.

Been doin lots of sailing, but nothing of my own yet.... I'll be starting to build the JC frames next spring once my little backyard shop is done this winter.

It's good to be back :D

OK .. back to Bandsaw talk!

Anyone have any feedback on the Craftsman electronic 12" bandsaw. The cabinet one where the saw tilts and not the table?

IMO...
get yourself up to a 14" and make sure you have at minimum a 1hp motor if you are going shopping so that you can resaw.
