I have put down 2 coats so far on the bottom of my boat with the SM-1000 paint and am using the hot dog foam rollers and am trying to put it down thin. Am gettting roller marks and am wondering if my problem is that I'm putting it down too thin. Also wondering if I would have better luck with the 1/4" nap roller instead. With the foam rollers I have to tip afterwords even though the manufacturer says its not necessary. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong.
Bye the way, I thinned the paint 1:10 ratio which is what the manufacturer recommended and that seems to work well. I have my garage heated to around 68 degrees. I am not sanding between coats since I reappy within 24hours.
Also wondering - my garage is not very dust proof and am getting a bit of duat and hair, etc ending up in the paint. Will that stuff come out with the final buffing? I have been sanding some if it with 400 grit between coats, but it seems to happen every time I put another coat down.

it could be your putting to much presure on the roller and not reloading it often enough and if you can wet down your floor before painting it will help alot with the dust and hair also try to keep from opening the door while the paint is wet the door going into the house will pull a drat through the garage when you open it so try to only open it to go inside when your done and wait till the paint is dust free before you go back out to look at it if you can.

that is exactly my comment. Too much pressure on the roller. When I applied mine, I went back over it with only the roller's weight. This took out those ridges. Very light touch.

I'll try putting less pressure on the roller, but didn't think I was putting much pressure on the roller. Maybe I'm trying too hard to not put too much on at one time. I have so far put 4 coats on and I don't even think I've used a quart of paint.
Every coat ends up having dust hairs in the paint. Can these be buffed out after the final coat? I've been very lightly sanding them out with 400 grit, but more ends up in the paint every coat.
