Hi everyone, talked with a few guys on here, I'm Patrick from Ottawa, Canada. I'm a cabinetmaker working for the House of Commons at Parliament Hill.

I am building the Lo Voltage as my 1st boat, mostly for my partner Melodie. We just bought a lake front cottage one hour North, near a small town named Gracefield, Quebec and thought that the Lo Voltage would be perfect for our quiet sunset martini cruises. This will be a pre-cursor to building my Biscayne next and will hopefully give me valuable practice at epoxy work. The Lo Voltage is built using the stitch and glue method and will be powered by a golf cart motor and Glenn L's "ED" propulsion system. I will be following Rich Dufresne (see customer pics)of Portland, Oregon's lead and build it in the style that he constructed his with a canopy and forward deck.

Progress so far:

Dec 13 - Received the plans
Dec 21 - Bought the 1/2" marine ply, and cut 3 of the 6 sheets
Dec 22 - Cut the remainder of the parts
Dec 23 - Received my 1 lb bag silicon bronze screws from Tendercraft Boats in Toronto $12.90 shipping UGHHHH!

Total 3.5 hrs of building time so far.

Hoping to have this sucker finished for the spring thaw and enjoy a hot chocolat ride!

I am attaching a few pics (they are manditory on this site y'know!) enjoy!!!

Patrick.

Thanks so much for starting this thread. We do not have a fully documented Lo Voltage build. AND The Lo Voltage is my next "approved" project.

What are you thinking about for power and propulsion?

Straight shaft with a rudder? Or will you try the lower-unit drive system?

B.

with the lower end of an outboard motor.

As stated...I am looking for a used golf cart motor...but may bite the bullet and go for new one...we shall see..still have a while to think about it!

Started gluing and screwing pieces together yesterday and have some progess made. Hard to beleive that a pancaked plan can turn into a boat. Slowly but surely!

Yeah it really is amazing!

I just ordered my Biaxial tape today ($68.00/roll @ 4" x 30 yds) ouchy... and that won't be enough but will get me started. I am glad however that the West epoxy is on sale so will save a few bucks on that.

http://www.thechandleryonline.com/ It's located on Poulain Street off of Carling Avenue in Ottawa. Can't remember the deals but everything had a red sticker on it in the store.

Have some more photo's for anyone interested in keeping tabs on my build...had a whole 2.5 hrs of uninterupted assembly and stitching yesteday and here is where I am at.

The transom is just on temporarily as I wanted to just see what it looked like...I was anxious to see if it even fit...pretty sure it will. Will have to stitch it and screw it to the upper portions and should look fine once trimmed up.
