A couple months back, I purchased a vintage Ivalite spotlight for my barrelback19 project. I love how those spotlights look on the decks of vintage runabouts! I just started taking it apart to lube the cable, re-wire, etc. However, there is no wiring currently in the light for me to pattern after. Pictures that I have seen of Ivalites only show one wire coming out of the bottom of the base. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to wire this thing up! Any help would be appreciated.

If there is only one wire, it must go up through the fitting to the middle contact on the lampholder. The other wire (-ve) would go to the metal outside of the fitting where it emerges inside the boat. It would either have a washer with a wire crimp, or some other type of connector physically attached to the metal.
Hope that helps a little.

it may be wired for duplex wire, wire that is 2 conductors in a single outer casing. Commom duplex wire is bilge-pump wire.

The spotlight bulb itself has two "wire posts". One wire goes to one of the posts and then snakkes through the spotlight and comes out the bottom of the base. I imagine a second wire connects to the other post...but not sure what that connects to. Also wondering how you get power to the bulb with only one wire coming out the bottom!!

As BillyC suggested, post a piccie if you can. That second post either connects to a second wire coming out the bottom, or it connects to the metal frame and you wire your -ve to the metal frame underneath for the second connection.

So...finally getting back to this discussion. I've attached a picture of the spot light bulb. As you can see, there are to places to connect wires. One wire connects to the bulb and snakes through the fixture and comes out of the bottom. The second wire connects to the other side of the bulb and then attaches to a small nut and bolt within the bulb housing. What I'm having trouble figuring out is how I get power to the light? Once mounted on the deck of my boat, do I attach a wire to one of the mounting bolts (under the deck) so now I would have a positve and negative?

You will have to connect the negative from the battery to some part of the metal housing to complete the circuit. Either inside the hull ( under deck ) where it won't show ,or to the exposed part of the housing.
