Has anyone used it? Opinions? I've heard some compare it to interlux yatch enamel and I'm wondering how accurate that would be? I was going to order some interlux brightside for my build, but I'm not fully happy with there color selection and the rustoleum I can have tinted. My hull bottom will be graphite/epoxy coated so thats not a concern. I've used brightside in the past and was happy with it, but at $38 a quart it is hard to justify, especially since I can't get it in the pale blue I want.

I used some on a fiberglass seat on my daughter's ex-Disney boat. (not a mouse boat,those are plastic)


I did a fast DA sand job ,then laid down a fast coat with a cheap fiberglass brush as we wanted to use the boat in a day or two.
I didn't expect much with that little prep and cheap brush,but I couldn't believe how nice it came out....very few brush marks,and shiny surface....good coverage over no primer,just white over gel coat.

I don't have a current pic,but I just went out and looked at it after sitting neglected since 2008 and it looks flat and dirty right now,but I couldn't scrape it with a screwdriver.


I think with proper prep,multiple coats,proper application, (I was going to spray it,but did it fast instead) and proper storage,(waxing,cover) I think it's be great.

Thanks for the feedback, anyone else use it before?

I just used it this winter and so far I love it, I also used their varnish. I used the navy blue right of the shelf on my bullet.

A guy down the dock used it on his sailboat last spring. He said the price was right and he could get it at Lowe's.

I just looked at it today and it still looks very good. His boat isn't a dock queen either. He sails it regularly and it sits out in the weather year round.

Yep, I just painted my new-to-me Dbl-Eagle last spring - I used a high end latex house paint (can't recall the brand) and I'm very pleased with the results. I needed to cover the old cream/white topsides with a dark green - took ~5 coats to get complete coverage. Against all popular 'boat lore,' I even used a roller to apply the first several coats, then finished with a brush. I'm thinking I used 3 gallons @ $35/gl.

Here are a few links that helped convince me to try good latex on this older boat. Know that you won't achieve a factory gelcoat looking smoothness, but it sure still looks pretty a year later with no peeling.
