Thanks guys! I am grateful for your support. I confess having lost some sleep over getting the hull right side up while keeping it in one piece. Looking forward to the next phase. Will post as progress permits.

Regards,

Steve Hansen

Now THAT is a seriously big flip! Mine was grabbed by a bunch of neighbors... flipped on some grass covered with blankets... then placed on my boat stand.

The logistics of a big-boat flip is quite something. I am always impressed at the ingeniuity of builders like yourself at tackling this part of the project. I bet it took many months of 'mental' preparationg thinking it through over and over again. The rush of having it DONE and everything unbroken in the process must be a major load off your mind.. if you pardon the pun ;)

Iggy,

Thanks for your kind words. I confess to obsessing a bit over getting the hull turned but had some assistance working out the details of the turning cradle and a good crew to help get the job done.

I imagine the satisfaction & relief of getting the flip over & done is pretty much the same regardless of the size of the project. There is a fear factor I guess knowing that if something goes wrong or didn't get figured properly the forces involved would be capable of doing some real damage, which in turn creates a strong incentive to stay focussed. Either way, I agree completely it's a relief to be able to move on to the next phase without taking time out for repairs!

Thanks Gayle.

I'm doing my best to build true to a great design. I'm grateful to you and the Glen-L crew for making the journey possible and to your Dad for showing the way.

Hi Track,

Just slogging through some sanding and prep in the engine compartment. Kind of a slow phase right now burning time with not much to show for it.

Have got main tanks templated & engine mounts are built. Rudder is installed. Collecting components for systems etc.

Have attached a pic of the day tank & manifold just completed. I was fortunate to find a local welding shop with experience in tank fabrication.

Will send more pics as progress permits.

Best regards,

Steve Hansen

Slow progress. Of many miscalculations I've made so far, probably the biggest has been underestimating the time spent sanding. Engine compartment is finally sealed, primed and bilgekoted and a few hardware items have been installed.

Still waiting on the mounts but hope to be able to install the main engine by end of September. Main tanks are nearly complete but will go in last.

Will post some pics to follow of the rudder during fabrication and final installation. Couldn't find any off-the-shelf rudders to suit.

Regards,

Steve Hansen
