I've got at least one more couple planning to come. Still trying to get the guy with the YellowJacket to come.

Ok, folks. Bill and I have been is discussion. As of this moment we have only 2 boats - his and mine. We have one person flying in and several that wish to come down for Saturday only.

This does not make sense to have a dedicated gathering so we decided to cancel this and offer an alternative

On the weekend of June 7-8, the Heartland Classic Chapter of ACBS will be holding a show at the same Rock Lane Resort.

http://www.heartland-classics.org/2007/11/classics-cruisin-weekend/

I will be attending this event. Bill is looking to join with me. For those who were planning to come down on Saturday for the Spring Fling, I would ask that you come down on June 11. You can join with me on the cruises and other events for the day.

I believe the current economy has a lot of folks on hold to attend only the Gathering this fall. That is completely understandable and fine with Bill and I. When we stated last fall that we could like to hold the Spring Fling it was because of a number of comments from Midwest folks that hated to miss the Big G but stated it was too far to travel.

Maybe next year we can try another spot.

Also, for an note of information. The International Show for ACBS will be held at Table Rock Lake in Sept 2012. There will be at least 150 boats. For those that cannot get to the Big G6, consider this event.

Very sorry to hear this, Dave. 2012 sounds like a "must do" event, though.

Sorry about the cancelation but I understand. We were going to come down on Saturday (no boat). We will probably make the June event. I just received the check for the sale of the Studebaker race car. Hope to start on a boat this fall, would be a great winter project.

Well, there may have been a reason for not having the Spring Fling on Table Rock. We have now experienced 16 inches of rain in 5 days. The lake is at historic highs at 934 elevation which is approaching 20ft over summer pool level. Ramps are inaccessible and much damage from flooding has already occurred. The resort we were going to stay at is under water.

The dam was opened yesterday for only its 3rd time ever and now dumping 80,000 CFM and cannot keep up with the lake rising.

The Corps is stating it will take most of the summer to lower to the lake back down to normal levels.
WOW!!

That's unfortunate because of the loss of use and tourism. Better days ahead, hopefully.

There is an interesting twist to this. Our hotel count goes up because of displaced homeowners. We starting getting people yesterday at the 2 hotels I manage. And we get a large influx of people that want to see the dam open. The picture does not do the site justice. The roar in the channel reminds me of being at the base of Niagara. Right now it is difficult getting to the observation deck over the dam. The road over the dam has been closed due to some earth failure on one side from all the rain. They hope to have it open tomorrow.

But as far as lake usage. There will be a hamper on it for a few weeks for sure

Yes, Gary - I am going to be there. There will be a cruise over to the new dock restaurant at Kimberling City for lunch. Get there by 10 and hitch a ride with us
