Squall at G7

Post by Bergy »

We had an exciting morning on Saturday at the G7 Gathering. Laura captured these shots from the safety of our cabin. In the end, 3 canopies totaled. Others seriously twisted, but still working.

Looking forward to next years gathering!

A picture is worth a thousand words. That pretty much sums up Saturday morning. Never a dull moment at the Gathering.

"When the gails of November came early" I just should not have sung that song on Friday night.

That storm was very deceptive. At first, it gave us the idea that we actually stood a chance of saving everything. So then, just about the time we all figured we were going to win, the storm said, "Oh no you're not!" It then about tripled in intensity and that was that. I felt like I was playing a game of "Twister" where every hand, foot and even my nose was pressing hard against something trying to save it.

When I finally lost the canopy that I was manning, I gave it up and headed back into my cabin. Suddenly, I realized that I had this AMAZING pain in my right foot! When I looked, I found one of those stick pins buried in the third toe all the way to the bone. OOOOUUUUCH! LOL!! I pulled it out and put some peroxide all over the area and it has been fine. But I thought that it was amazing that I didn't even notice it until all the rest of the excitement settled down.

PostScript to the canopy fiasco.
Both of my canopies live. Just set up (persuaded) the big canopy in the woods of northern Louisiana. I'll be leaving my boat below the snow belt this year.
