Conrad...look a page 1 of my build...I made a long angle jig....then took off my base of the router...and put a long piece of plywood...I wood screw down the piece I was working with to keep it from moving...
I would then try a figure this joint landing on a frame...

Hope this helps...
Glad you back building. ..

Ok...I have to be honest. ...a person that is high up in the DNR....was seeing the dr. my wife worked for...so over the 14months I built the boat...he checked on the project. .so when I submitted...the paper work...all the DNR guys...wanted to come check out the boat...

Take good pictures
Keep even receipt..and label what it is...
Follow the process on the forms...
And allow about 4weeks...for the guys to come out...but could happen in 2 days...

So the plans say to start the chine logs at the stem, but I've seen you guys go transom and then bend them. Which way did you go with and why?

I started at the transom.....when I got to the bow....slowly started bending them together. ...a few times I wrapped them in old towels...and saturated with hot water...and would let it sit ...
I bought a Japanese back saw...and that is what I used to cut that front joint....

I think. ..the reason glen...said in the direction to start at the bow...was because of this compound angle cut......
With rebar wire ..a few ratchet straps...you can hold it ...and use the stem as a guide..easy cut...I think I cut my 2 or 3 times to get the fit perfect. ...

Question, instead of two 1/4" bottom hull pieces, can't you use a 1/2 sheet or is the bonding of the two 1/4" stronger etc.?
Thanks,

I think..the 2 ..1/4 ..are stronger...
You get to break up all your joints...and easier...to bend in the bow area...

Kelly, where did you find your plywood? Having trouble finding marine plywood in thicknesses beside 1/2 and 3/4

Nice! Did you put an eye bolt in the stem? if so, where did you put it? Also, I feel like a TON of hardware goes into small pieces of wood. That's why I made my chine logs 1.5 " thick at the rear. give those corners a little more strength and add forgiveness to where I place the nails and screws. I had to order a lot more nails, though I think I ordered way more than I needed. 10 lbs of 1" nails
