Australian Gathering Version 3.0
Hi all,
Thought we better try and get the ball rolling (Seen a post from Old aussie asking the question).
I know it might be a bit of a drive for some but i have had a look at Noosa for a gathering, its a nice place with lots of water ways.
For the date I had a look at October the 24th which works in with the Noosa classic Boat regatta. (Alan attended last year with Cia Bella) Allan might be able to give a better idea if this location would suit.
Any other suggestions???
I will be without boat again this year (Getting closer but still not ready).
Maybe if we get an idea of how many people are coming and where they are from.

It is a very pretty spot on the Noosa River. It is limited in mooring other than the marina which will be in high demand and there is no accommodation on the river front itself that I can think of. This would probably mean launching and retrailering boats at the end of the day, which isn't that hard. Perhaps Sir Richard will let us use his island for a venue if we ask him nicely?

Tony, you took the words from my mouth. To add, the regatta is in a beautiful location, well organised by friendly people, but the marina is small only 40 boats can attend the regatta. None of the ramps on the river have pontoons and last year we were fighting both tide and wind at a shallow tapered ramp. Over the summer period there is also a very low speed limit on the river, need to check. As a suggestion have a look at the Tweed River Classic Boat Regatta held around that time.

Allan are you suggesting a new location, the big problem is distance .I can suggest some lakes down here but i feel thats a bit selfish as I think we victorians might be in the minority. But it would be similar distance to the Murray or Jindabyne for the Sydney folk, and could be more attractive to the south and west Aussie's There's lake mulwala,Echuca and Mildura

Sorry Jenko, I wasn't intentionally suggesting a new location, but rather just running with Jamie's suggestion of holding the Gathering in conjunction with a wooden boat regatta. Due to the geographical spread of our builders may I suggest alternating zones for the Gatherings. One year down south next year in the north. That way it's fairer to all. To those down south, it's your turn.

Hi Allan,
Does that mean its down south for a location this year or for the southerners to travel...
Good idea to alternate location each year..
I don't mind where it is once I have boat completed I will be happy to travel...can end up being our yearly family holiday.

Hi all I think we should have the gathering down south this year. it would make it easier for Pete to make it we all want to see the v12 in action. also us slackos up north have not got our boats ready yet. next year we could have it up this way..... Peter....
Re: Australian Gathering Version 3.0
I'm OK with down south. Maybe along the Murray River as suggested.

Re: Australian Gathering Version 3.0
I'd say October as it would be warmer and school holidays are in September unless you want to bring the kiddy winks which is fine too. Then September would be better.

Re: Australian Gathering Version 3.0
Much as I am keen to have the Gathering closer to home, I'm afraid my boat will not be in the water until January or February. So even if you decide on Mulwala this year, I will be dropping in to say hello without the boat. Of course, any of you are welcome to call in at Pine Mountain on the way to or from Mulwala to see the progress, but if you are wanting to see and hear the V12 in the water, it will be the 2016 Gathering.
