Re: Who is coming and where?

I don’t suppose it was the Star’s Mill graduation in Peachtree City?

That would be crazy if we happened to be at the same graduation.

Re: Who is coming and where?

Hi Bill!

I actually just sent an updated design to Anika a couple of days ago. I believe she’s planning to “unveil” it in the next week or so.

After she does that, I’ll of course send you artwork for the cuzies.

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend!

Re: Who is coming and where?

I’ll probably drive up on Saturday; hopefully with my new bride and possibly with 1 or 2 of the canoes I designed and built. With any luck, hopefully I can make it to Amigos and/or Spaghetti Night.

Re: G15 Dates and Location

Hi All! I haven't dropped in to the forum in a LONG time. I'm happy to hear about the strong turnout for the Gathering this year! Hopefully, I'll be able to come by this year, WITH my new bride! We were actually up at that end of the lake last weekend for my daughters end-of-club-season volleyball p...

Re: Michael's ZIP

Thanks y'all. I'm hoping to see you all in September. Hopefully, G14 won't coincide with a volleyball tournament this year. First Mate DeAnna is really excited at the idea of seeing all the boats. She and I were kickin' around at Hales Bar a couple of weekends ago. They moved the floating patio over...

Re: Michael's ZIP

Okay... I'd never have imagined posting this, but here we go: I have decided to abandon my Zip project. New relationship. New priorities. (Yes, those priorities DO involve more boatbuilding). I need the space. And, in short, this Zip is no longer as important to me as it once was. Is anyone interest...

Nothing new at the moment. I haven’t touched it in a few months.

Re: Fisherman

For my part, I would not fiberglass the spray rails & skeg. It would be a lot of extra work for very little actual benefit. Also, when the time comes to repair the spray rails & skeg, fiberglass would only make things more complicated — again, for very little actual benefit.

Re: Minnesota Squirt Build

This is so common, it should really just become part of the instructions imho. Brock, yes I'd add an additional shim (lamination) on that chine curve so you've got more to work with on getting the chine-to-sheer angle. Look at it this way... in addition to achieving a good fit for the planking, you'...

Re: Minnesota Squirt Build

Based on the angles (if they are correct) I may have removed too much of the frame: IMG_6467.jpg You have not removed too much of the frame. In fact, you're going to have to remove more. As Hercdrvr mentioned, you need to widen the notch just enough for the full width of the chine to fit in there. ...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl,

I use a cheap tabletop "mini" drill press to cut bungs. It works just fine, although I've found that I have to go slowly.

I haven't tried it with a hand drill... seems like it would be a real PITA to me. But then again, my plug cutters are nothing special. Off-the-shelf ACE Hardware.

Here are some photos showing fairing progress since the summer. It's coming along... slowly, but surely.
