Re: Bo-Jest
Richard, The blogsite for my bojest can be found at www.tomstug.blogspot.com If you go to the first post (early 2010 i think), you can follow my build and subsequent use of the BoJest “Knot-So-Fast”. We put about 2500 miles on her over 5 years. Its a great design. If you have any questions, I’ll be ...

Re: through-hull drains
I can guarantee you that transom drains are useless on the bojest. During construction I had considerable water in the bilge on mine, and I jacked up the trailer as far as it would go, and then drove to the steepest hill I could find - neither method got the water anywhere close to the drain plugs. ...

Re: Who's Going and Where
Glenda and I arrived in Guntersville, AL (50 miles downriver from Hales Bar) today after spending the last 7 days bringing Genesis up from Demopolis, AL. (13 locks in 7 days-  ) I am determined not to miss the Gathering this year. We will keep Genesis docked here for the summer, t...

Re: glassing plywood prior to hull installation
For what it's worth, I glassed the 3 pieces of plywood that made up the cabin top of my Bo-Jest, then installed them and glassed the two seams. It was MUCH easier applying the glass when the panels were on sawhorses at waist level than it would have been trying to do it on my knees, on a curved cabi...

Re: Who's Going and Where
My surgery yesterday did not go well, so glenda and I will not be bringing Genesis up from Demopolis. We will try to drive up for the day on Saturday, though.

Congratulations Bill.
Thanks for letting me be a part of the "unveiling". Sorry I wasn't much help with the heavy lifting.

Bill,
What time tomorrow?
I think I can come. I won't be much help with lifting her, but I'll cheer the rest of you on.

Re: Who's Going and Where
I'm scheduled for surgery in 4 weeks, and assuming the outcome is good, we plan to leave Demopolis in late August and head to Hales Bar in Genesis. We should be there in plenty of time for the Gathering. We will stay on the boat.

Bill, I think your mileage figures are going to be pretty close. My 20' center console averaged around 5 mpg, and I spent a lot of time at inefficient speeds. My Yamaha 115 is now 15 years old, and still runs like new!

Re: Great Loop - Bucket list
Ray sounds like an old trawler Captain! We did a little over 1000 miles of the loop (backwards) when we brought our trawler from Ft. Pierce, FL to Demopolis, AL. At an average of about 58 miles, and 10 hours at the helm, we made the trip in 18 days. If I was doing that length of trip again, I'...

Bill, anytime you want to go to Demopolis, just let me know. I still want to come to see the Bartender, too. Will it be ready for the Gathering?
Tim, it's white with green trim.

Re: I Must Confess!
Sorry for the delay. Here is an update on what's happened since we got to Demopolis: The boatyard at Kingfishers Bay Marina, operated by Ed Wall as "Warrior Tombigbee Yacht Services" pulled the mast from Dusty Weather while Glenda and I went to Atlanta to see our newest grand-daughter, who was born ...

Re: I Must Confess!
We made it to Demopolis last night about 7:45, ending our 1040 mile trip.
The boat did great, and the Isuzu diesel engine never missed a beat the whole way!
Enjoyed the trip, but we are glad to be home for a day or two. Then the work begins on the "new" boat.
