Screw Extractor Set

I had to remove a stripped out silicone bronze screw today. Thought that someone might need to do the same so I posted this. The pic below is a slick set. You drill out the screw head and then flip over to extract screw. I had forgotten how well it works.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

The motor is in the boat on new wooden motor mounts. The motor is in position, and closely lined up waiting for the ordered prop shaft for final adjustments. The boat is home now because the shop needed space and the propshaft won't be in for a couple of weeks. I will take the boat back for installa...

Classic Boats being restored

I took my boat to Northwest Classic Boats this morning to get my motor set in place. Here are some pics of other boats in the process of being restored there.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Thanks everyone!
Matt, I just didn't feel like going through all of the proper engine placement and alignment problems, and getting the proper prop shaft length. Thought I would leave it to a professional and just write a check. I delivered the boat to the shop this morning.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

I finally got the motor in the boat. It sits too high in the boat now. I'm taking it to Northwest Classic Boats in Auburn, CA tomorrow for the final mounting of the motor and propshaft installation and alignment. I clamped the motor down for the short ride to his shop. Once I get the boat back, it's...

Re: Barrelback sea trials complete

Nice job Matt!
I can still remember that picture of you with the puzzled look on your face when studying the plans. You are now enjoying your beautiful boat, and I'm still poking around. Hope to be on the water soon.

Re: OMC 5.0L overheating.

In your response to your question wondering where to get a pump... Looks like it might be a Ford engine that OMC converted. You might be able to get a new pump from a Ford dealer, aftermarket parts store, or from OMC. Check to see if the OMC pump is any different from the standard Ford pump. I have ...

Re: OMC 5.0L overheating.

A friend had the same problem. Pieces of the pump impeller got stuck in some of the cooling channels. Water pump impellers should be replaced on a regular basis. I would start with replacing the impeller and see what the old one looks like.

Re: Fast enough?

The coast guard couldn't catch them for a safety inspection anyway.

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Roberta.... I used a steel bit and I have another steel bit on order. I should be able to get all the way through with that but if not, carbide tip will be next. If that doesn't work, The bit I used worked quite well. It's an irwin from Lowes. I replaced the small bit on the front with a regular bi...
