Re: Electric Longboard - Practicing Techniques!

Sorry to disappoint :D I didn't know they made such a beast - it seems like it would be an incredibly valuable tool.

Thank you!

Re: Electric Longboard - Practicing Techniques!

Thank you! I didn't see these replies! I need to turn on my notifications. Yes - The power system is as follows: Battery: 12 in series, 3 in parallel using Molicel 21700 P42A cells spot welded together. This makes the battery pack 18 inches long and 5 3/4 inches wide. Each cell is 4200mAh and a volt...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Its not a U shape, its this weird plastic piece that you really cant cut down too much. Some of the gauge brackets have little spines that stick out that can be trimmed down, some do not. It isn't a great design IMO...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Man - I wish I could. This is actually the 3rd dashboard I cut out, the others were test pieces from 1/2 inch scrap ply to make sure everything fit properly when I used the mahogany. The dashboard is made from 4/4 solid mahogany. The gauges can only clamp something around 1/4 inch thick, since the b...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Thank you! It's one of the prettiest mistakes to date! :D :D
I considered building the boat out as left hand drive, but I already have the seats, throttle box, and wires run to the appropriate locations to make it right hand drive.

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Just a quick update! I have been working on the boat over Christmas break; but I had to stop to make a bed for my grandmother, as she was moving in with us. It turned out beautifully - I am really proud of it! In order to keep progress on the boat going, I decided to take the dashboard with me to co...

Electric Longboard - Practicing Techniques!

Hello! I will take this post down if requested, since it doesn't have much to do with boats - no harm, I completely understand. While I have been at college, I have been unable to work on the boat - but that doesn't mean I can't practice some of the skills needed to finish the project. Since I do no...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Oops my bad - I made the videos public. You should be able to see them now! I too hope that the woodshops open soon. As of right now, I am talking to one of my professors about getting access to the school's woodshop but it is not looking good. I hope we are able to take it out for sea trials once b...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Thank you! I wonder if my engine temps will get lower, once it is in the water since there will be more water moving through the system than our garden hose can provide. So far the Toyota 3-UZ seems like a good engine - I cant wait to get her out on the water. It makes me feel better to know there a...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

A couple weeks ago we took the boat out test the cooling system. After fixing two heat exchanger leaks, we were able to start the boat and fill the engine with water (temporary in case there were leaks - there were none!). We ran the boat for 45 minutes: the highest engine temp I saw was at 203 degr...

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Thank you! I had thought I posted a reply earlier but I guess it didn't go through? Anyway, I love Butch Barto's boat - it has been an inspiration for me throughout the build. I love the way he did the deck fixings, exhaust, and vents. It's a beautiful boat. Thank you for the support - It turns out ...
