Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Thanks everyone! Matt, I just didn't feel like going through all of the proper engine placement and alignment problems, and getting the proper prop shaft length. Thought I would leave it to a professional and just write a check. I delivered the boat to the shop this morning. Jim Good plan of action...

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Jim,
What’s going on with the engine fit ? Or are you just wanting someone to do the prop shaft alignment? Looking great, you’re almost there.

Installed the fin just forward of the engine. Get out the lateral G meter for the test run.

Re: Exploring Chickamauga Lake

I talked to the lock master about getting down to Nickajack so we can boat into Chattanooga. Lock is open 24 hrs and plan on about 45 minutes to get through depending on traffic. He said call on the phone, VHF radio or just wave at him and wait for the green light. Heather flies into Chattanooga and...

Congrats on a successful sea trial. The eye of death is a powerful force no doubt! :)
I’m only joking about going faster. That would be like trying to make a C-130 go Mach 1 .

Barrelback sea trials complete

My friend and fellow Barrelback builder DavO from the forum , gave me his freshly rebuilt Holley 4160 to use for a lake test. What a swell fellow, the engine had zero issues. Touch the key and it started every time without monkeying around with the throttle. New Holley carb has been ordered, not foo...

Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

Ok, I see what you mean. I’d get a hoist on the engine and get the weight off the mounts and get them moving freely.
New boats have issues to work through, it’s just part of the build.

Re: OMC 5.0L overheating.

I cringed when I read, used engine off EBay. Moving forward though, I’d take the thermostat out and test run it, and have a second source of measuring water temp. If it’s not cooling, there is a restriction and the water isn’t moving through the engine or it’s really bad and the heads are cracked, h...
