Re: Hello from Luxembourg

The Canadian Government is considering covering the cost of boat building as it has been determined it is a disease and is not curable! Just kidding.

Re: Power Yak Stability

Just put mine in the water on Saturday. Boat Won a prestigious "Speical Visitors Woodworking & Technologies Award". Overbuilt it. Not a boat that you want to stand up in, but sitting is fine. Boat was carrying two deep cycle batteries - in back of the rear seat and one in front below the decking are...

Re: Minn Kota controller modification

I busticated that wire ribbon on a new motor when I took the top apart prior to cutting the tube between the head and the motor. Darn luck. So, I got some telephone wire and spliced the parts back together. Had to be very careful where the wires attached to the controller. Used some flux and as soon...

Electic Yak

Instead of cutting a sanding belt in half and attaching it to a piece of 2 x 4 to sand to fair the sides of the hull level to the top of the boat - I used a hand held electric planer placed at an angle so the cutting blade extended over the side of the boat about 1/3 way. It took less than 10 minute...

Re: Circuit breaker for trolling motor

I have also picked up a 50 amp circuit breaker for my 40 lb thrust Minn Kota. I have a plastic box which is not totally water proof - needs some air flow where the fuses for the bilge pump and lights are located. I also use Large Sermos connectors so I can disconect motor from wiring if needed. Thes...

Re: Golf Cart Motor overheating

The guys that race (very high speed) electric and also 2 stoke Radio Control boats use water to cool the motors / engines. Try some small diameter copper tube around the outside of the motor, one end is under water facing forward, the other exits behind. Some have the inlet behind the prop and exit ...

Re: Has anyone tried a retractable motor on the Poweryak

I and a friend designed a retractable device using a MinnKota 40lb Maximizer motor. Of course we voided the warranty by doing so. We plan on launching the boat late May or June this year. If it works out we might make the design available for others. It was a tough go to figure it all out. If this w...

Re: poweryak consersion.

I don't see the reason for shortening the hull, less hull, less boyance. A gas motor on a kayak? Then you need fuel lines, filters, fuel tank, and a gas mask.
