Re: dry time for lumber

I'm not an expert on this, but there are many posts and guidelines for air drying wood online. A quick search says 4/4 lumber may take about a 1/2 year or more to be properly dried. Before you use Ash, read this thread here: https://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1766 . It does not sound like...

I'm learning a lot about the Great Loop and the Erie canal from your blog. Keep it up and safe journeys!

Looiking good.

Make sure you have full range of motion on your gear shifter. I tried to keep mine tight to the lever, and have had a few issues with getting in gear and slipping.

Re: new the forum and first time boat builder

Hi Ed,

I'm glad you got it in the water. The MI SOS office is why I started that registration thread, every time you go into an office you get a different answer.

Looks like a nice lake, and we definitely need a Michigan gathering.

Enjoy!

Re: Confused on gussets

I looked back at my build thread, and I don't recall if it was an 8' strip or 4' strips. The widest part of the Squirt's deck is 54", so if the sides are less than 21" high, an 8' strip off of one sheet should work.

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Other than the "pucker" moment, I'm glad you are finally in the water.

We should have a critical mass for a Michigan gathering by now!

Re: Confused on gussets

I remember this conundrum with my build. If I recall correctly I was able to take a 4' long slice off of one end of a sheet of plywood that was wide enough to make the gussets. The remaining plywood was used for the bottom sheeting since these were the shortest panels.

Re: Electro Squirt build, East Nassau NY

Going from 42V to 48V is not going to make a big difference. Do you have any way to measure the current at full power? My guess is that it doesn't take 10ph to push a Squirt at 5mph and you are not getting the power out of the motor. 10hp is 7457 Watts. AT 48V you should be pulling about 150Amps (48...

Re: Sanding Grits,,,Finishes,,, Varnishes,,,Paints,,, that Wet Look,,,

Hi Ken, I'm into RC airplanes including sailplanes. Most gliders have a large wing and most modelers use one or two colors (read boring). I looked at the wing as a blank canvas, but not being particularly artistic, I drew inspiration from car graphics. You might also take a look at private airplanes...
