Re: Hi guys i need some help

Hi, Your plans should have come with a basic set of instructions. These are pretty brief, so most builders get a copy of "Boatbuilding with Plywood" by Glen L Witt, or "The New Cold-Molded Boadbuilding". Both of these are available on the Glen L website, Amazon, or other book sellers. These should g...

Re: Travels and Adventures of "Curt's Dream" a True Grit design-The Great Loop

Hi Curt, Glad you made it out of Detroit alive! :D My father used to volunteer at the Henry Ford so we've spent a lot of time there. It is a nice museum and they do a good job to bring in special events. But seriously, our paths must have crossed. I had my family up at Port Huron on Saturday to watc...

Re: dry time for lumber

I'm not an expert on this, but there are many posts and guidelines for air drying wood online. A quick search says 4/4 lumber may take about a 1/2 year or more to be properly dried. Before you use Ash, read this thread here: https://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1766 . It does not sound like...

I'm learning a lot about the Great Loop and the Erie canal from your blog. Keep it up and safe journeys!

Looiking good.

Make sure you have full range of motion on your gear shifter. I tried to keep mine tight to the lever, and have had a few issues with getting in gear and slipping.

Re: new the forum and first time boat builder

Hi Ed,

I'm glad you got it in the water. The MI SOS office is why I started that registration thread, every time you go into an office you get a different answer.

Looks like a nice lake, and we definitely need a Michigan gathering.

Enjoy!

Re: Confused on gussets

I looked back at my build thread, and I don't recall if it was an 8' strip or 4' strips. The widest part of the Squirt's deck is 54", so if the sides are less than 21" high, an 8' strip off of one sheet should work.
