Re: Tom's Tahoe

Received the two replacement tires. Now all the tires are the same including the spare and the trailer is ready to go. I called on the windshield again. So many calls, several "after the tower I'm working on", then "after this fuel tank", now it's after this tug being built which should be done in O...

Re: new the forum and first time boat builder

Ed,

For the record, the change in propulsion on your boat would not trigger a trip to the SOS. I'm not even sure they should care about the original propulsion source beyond the extra $5 they collect for being motorized.

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Jim, Critical mass of GlenLs in MI for sure. A Michigan gathering would be fun and I wouldn't mind if people from other states joined. :D Bob, I just took a look at Crusader Manual (not my engine but what I could find that was close), it shows three tranny shifter diagram, one is RH this way, one is...

Re: new the forum and first time boat builder

Glad you got through it Ed. It's sad that there is one screen at the SOS office that the clerk needs to read and follow. Sometimes reading is a lost art. Your grandson is luck to have such a nice boat, it fits just right...Time to start the next one, growing boys need bigger boats!!  :lol...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Would it be easier to approach the shifter problem at the tranny? That is get a longer shorter cable and mount it to approach the shift lever from a different direction? I bought the "extreme" cable which took a nice bend as I wound it from a clip on the motor stringer to the cable mount. Thanks Mi...

Re: Squirt in Manitoba

I used staples too. It is counterintuitive but thin epoxy works better than thick. Thin flows into the hole. Thick bridges the hole and leaves a bubble. They don't show up after the hole is filled, just a dark bit of grain in the wood.

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Roberta, Thanks for the confirmation. I'm using https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-13200-saf-t-stop-switch.aspx. The end of the red lanyard is trapped between the switch and the housing. Pull the lanyard and trip the switch rather than pull the lanyard and release the switch. The switch will be mounted...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Wiring in the safety stop switch...

Do I wire it into the purple wire going from the ignition switch to the engine? The switch end is labeled IGN. I would appreciate confirmation before I start fixing something that isn't broken.

Thanks,

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Thanks Ken, Roberta, and Carl, I'm still rattled by the near miss with the concrete "beach". I took a close look at the transmission end of the shift cable, it is routed under the engine and then up the port side of the transmission. The cable clamp is a few inches forward and below the shift center...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

The trailer saga continues...breaks are done, tires are not. The trailer guy explains that they are using what they can get, that doesn't really work for tires, I want 4 tires on the ground and a spare, all the same size. For now, I have one tire that isn't right and no spare. Good enough...for now....

Re: Sanding Grits,,,Finishes,,, Varnishes,,,Paints,,, that Wet Look,,,

Ken,

Have you considered a sheer stripe, a wide stripe from the sheer to about the top of the seats that exaggerates the sheer line (wider amidship) with a boot stipe at the bottom matching the waterline boot stripe?

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Roberta, I pulled the caliper off the rotor and zip tied it to the frame, brake lines still attached, not the best but better than a golf tee stuck in the end of the brake line.  The boat shop is only a few miles away and yesterday's status phone call (first call, honest) had not been ret...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Thanks Bob, I'm looking forward to getting on the water. Roberta, Still young, I read that as encouragement to be patient... Patience is wearing thin. Numbers are on the boat. Still no prop or trailer repair parts. Started working on a boat cover, working from the stern to mid-ship, paused waiting f...
